Where inverters win

Inverter compressors soft-start without the 3–5× startup surge of fixed-speed units, so they run happily on smaller generators and unstable voltage. Once running, they modulate instead of cycling on/off, cutting electricity use by roughly 30–40% in real conditions — a decisive argument where power is expensive or comes from diesel. Inverter models also pair well with growing solar installations.

Where fixed-speed still makes sense

Fixed-speed units cost significantly less to buy, use simpler control boards that any local technician can repair, and remain the volume seller in entry-level retail.
